Bitterly honest or just bitter? Either way, the video is rad and the lyrics deem ceaseless amusement- he actually uses ‘anthropologically unjust’, questions the listener- ‘do you think that I’m some kind of dummy?’, and then breaks it down to ‘cunts are still running the world’. It is the first release from Jarvis Cocker’s solo career in 2006, leaving his prior Britpop sound of Pulp astray with the Common People

I can’t see, but that is okay for this song.

A familiar lengthy-limbed fellow met me in sleep last night
I kissed his knees
He traced my curls
Into a nest of honeysuckle swirls
And the oddity lay in the touch between his finger tips and my scalp
With each brush scrawny veins would surface on his boughs
They began to run all over; bloodless and mousy
His milky flesh draining to a cantaloupe’s skin
Gulp…
gulp, gulp, gulp
I fell limp within his footprint
Impregnated with an afterlife, swimming in his cinder and passing spirits
Even in sleep he died inside of me
If Bob Dylan was born thirty years later or resurrected as different entities- presumably as the makeup of a band- his music would be strongly reminiscent to this. It is poetry wrapped in a pretty sound.
This band, and song in particular, makes me want to play hide-in-seek in a strawberry field with my best friend. When I listen to this, I am floating on its musical notes, glancing below at icy mountain tops, splashing rivers, and the perfume streaming from metropolitan areas.
Ha!

My words cannot even describe the amount of love I grew for this.
